Conservative Caucus to Get Weekly Constitution Lessons

Class will be in session soon for some incoming members of a caucus that Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), a Tea Party favorite, has created.
Beginning with the new Congress in January, the Constitutional Conservative Caucus will be meeting weekly with lessons on America’s founding document in order to keep their skills sharp as they legislate. Their first facilitator is Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. Each week will be taught by a different guest and there will be a period for Q&A.
Rep. Bachmann told Lou Dobbs (see above clip) that the sessions are “bipartisan” and she “hopes that all members of Congress will participate.” She equated the classes with the practice routines professional athletes endure to keep their skills sharp.
Personally, I think it’s a great idea. I’m not sure if I buy into the end product of how the Tea Party pimps the Constitution for their own gain. But, knowing the document that is the basis for your most important work-related decisions is important. Even members of Congress with law degrees need to be brushed up on the Constitution. There obviously other members who are not attorneys. So, it seems helpful all the way around.
I’m hard-pressed, though, to find ONE Democrat who’s going to knowingly sit in a Bachmann-led caucus meeting. That would make them chum for the media sharks. Just saying.
