Christiane Amanpour Jumps Ship to ABC News

Famed international CNN chief correspondent, Christiane Amanpour, was recently chosen to anchor ABC’s “This Week.” She joins the ranks of several heavy-hitting female journalists like Candy Crowley at CNN and Katie Couric at CBS making big moves on TV. Amanpour will join ABC News in August.
“This Week” is a Washington-based, Sunday morning talk program with a heavy focus on politics and U.S. issues. But, with Amanpour on board, she can easily bring her 20 years of international journalism experience to the show to give it more flavor. It would be really smart for ABC to do that because they are up against “Meet The Press,” “State of the Union with Candy Crowley,” and “FOX News Sunday.” I’m always an advocate for a broader news perspective and Christiane is KILLING most reporters out now! She could make Sunday talk slightly more interesting by talking about something other than just Democrats and Republicans every week.
Well, I guess since Chrissy is leaving CNN, her “Amanpour” program I used to catch on Sunday afternoons will be no more. Sad face. It was a great show with an international focus. Congrats, though, to Christiane for making power moves!
