Christiane Amanpour’s Changing the Sunday Talk Game
Matt | On 31, Jul 2010
Former CNN international correspondent, Christiane Amanpour, is ready to whip ass and take names later in the cutthroat world of Sunday morning talk shows. [emphasis added .. lol]
As we reported in March, Amanpour has jumped ship over to ABC News where she is the new host of the network’s famed This Week program. She debuts as host of the program this Sunday. Like all of the other political talk shows, Christiane will cover major topics affecting Washington and Main Street on her new show. It’s your standard fare in the world of political news. Take the hint. It’s not Jersey Shore or Real Housewives of [insert favorite city].
Amanpour, as expected, plans to bring a slightly different feel to her program. She spent 20 years gallivanting all over the world with CNN. She wants to bring more of an international feel to her show, instead of that sh*tty back and forth we have to endure on every other channel. Expect to hear more about global issues and how they affect Americans as a whole. There’s a big and important world OUTSIDE of these United States. Imagine that. Hmmph.
Though she will be in a studio discussing issues and interviewing guests, Christiane will dust off her passport every now and again and travel for her show. She’s also expected to tape some specials for the ABC network.
So this is a fair warning to Candy Crowley, David Gregory, Chris Wallace, and every other Sunday talker. Christiane is the new game in town. Step it up!
This Week with Christiane Amanpour debuts this Sunday, August 1 at 11:00 a.m. ET on ABC. [Check your local listings for the channel number. I’m not a TV Guide or DVR box. lol..]
