Dismal Dick Strikes Again

I knew it wouldn’t be long before Dick Cheney came out of his cave again.
This time the former vice president spoke briefly at the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee) conference in Washington, D.C. He accompanied his daughter, Liz Cheney, who also spoke to the group yesterday.
He was greeted to chants of “Run, Dick, Run..” – as in “run” for office. (No, thank you. Eight years was far too long). He gave a few remarks about the conservative movement and the pipe dream they hold about landslide victories in elections at every level in November. Same ole stuff. Puff, puff, pass…
The punchline of the whole appearance was his insistence that “Barack Obama is one-term president.” As I’ve said before, Cheney is entitled to his (misguided) opinions. But, Barack Obama won his election based in part off of mistakes Bush, Cheney & Co. made. Cheney tore apart government and started illegal wars in one term and America STILL re-elected him. So, since Obama is actually trying to HELP the American people (remember us, Cheney?), I don’t think he has much to worry about. You gotta love the Cheney hypocrisy about re-election considering he stole his first White House victory.
Cheney says he is excited about the possibility of younger people taking control of the conservative movement. But, conservatives across the board pull out the same characters of Cheney, Romney, McCain, Palin, Beck, Hannity, and usually a nobody governor or senator. Nobody in their movement seems to exist under the age of 40 – besides Meghan McCain (and they trash her).
I’m just “excited” about younger people taking control of that movement so we don’t have hear Depressing Dick lecture us anymore. Is that too much to ask?
