Mayor Goodman Gets Rowdy with Obama About Vegas?!
Matt | On 06, Feb 2010
Las Vegas Mayor, Oscar Goodman, tried (and failed) to check President Obama about some comments he made about his city this week.
It started last Tuesday when Obama referred to Las Vegas in an example during a speech to some New Hampshire high school students. Here’s what POTUS had to say:
“You don’t go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage,” said Obama. “You don’t blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you’re trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices.”
Goodman is upset because, of course, those comments were broadcast all over TV and the Internet. Las Vegas depends on smoking your bank account to support their economy, so he took direct offense to Obama’s remarks. He said, “I want the president to straighten this out. Otherwise, he’s not welcome in my city. The president is a real slow learner.” Goodman was referring to similar comments POTUS made about Vegas in February 2009.
What the hell?? Can someone tell me exactly WHERE the Prez misspoke??? I mean, damn Oscar, we are in a RECESSION!! Other than people that live there, nobody I know just “happens upon” Las Vegas. People go there to spend some hard-earned money.
Anybody that has ever seen a college tuition statement oughta know that ‘ish’ is EX-PEN-SIVE!! These students should learn now that bills are REAL, they come due, and they will throw you out of the classroom if they aren’t paid. We need to start keepin’ it real with our youth more often. You have to work hard, sacrifice, and HELL NO, you cannot have everything you want!
Why was Goodman got so bent out of shape in the first place? Most of the students in that room probably can’t do 3/4 of the activities in Vegas anyway. Duh! They are MINORS, Oscar!!! They have no business being in your smoky-a$$ casinos, brothels, peep shows, and clubs! End of story.
