Michael Moore Puts Democratic Lawmakers on Probation

Last night, I caught filmmaker Michael Moore on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC.
As expected, Moore was quite upset with the fallout from Tuesday’s elections. He mentioned that he is tired of sending Democratic lawmakers to Washington, D.C. only for them to get run over by Republicans. He wants more action, more of a hard-line stance, and some real push-back on the policies of the GOP.
Moore says he put the Dem lawmakers on “probation” on Tuesday night. As a result, he has developed a petition that YOU can sign! I’d say go for it if you agree that Democrats need to man-up and get a spine on more than a few issues.
Here’s the text of the petition:
“We just voted for you, the Democratic members of Congress, in the midterms. But our vote comes with one big condition: If you do not straighten up, get a spine and do what we expect of you, we will find alternate candidates to run against you in 2012. And we mean it.
Consider yourself on notice that you have just two more years to start doing the things we elected you to do. If you move one more inch to the “center” or to the right, you will never get our vote again.”
If you’re interested, you can sign the petition here.
Sidenote: During his interview, Moore said that 14 million young people STAYED HOME from the polls on Tuesday. Wow?! In 2008, young people overwhelmingly voted for President Obama. He used the figure to show that if the Obama Administration had engaged just a fraction of them on Election Day that Democrats would not have lost the House of Representatives. That’s a shame…
