New GOP Congressman Whines For His Government Healthcare

This is hypocrisy at its finest. Pretty much, it has been gift-wrapped in a special package just for us!
Rep.-elect Andy Harris (R-Md.) attended House orientation this week and got a little pissed off at the healthcare setup for members of Congress. Apparently, government health care benefits don’t kick in for members of Congress until February 1. The members are sworn into the 112th Congress on January 3. So, they go for four whole weeks without coverage, if they don’t have private insurance of their own to cover the gap.
Harris, a physician, was upset by the government policy that requires a delay in the start of healthcare coverage for those on Capitol Hill. He said he has never been employed anywhere that didn’t provide coverage on the first day. [Well, I have!] The irony is that Dr. Harris ran (and won) against Frank Kratovil, the sitting Democrat, mostly because his calls for LESS government healthcare.
It seems that Dr. Harris thinks government-run healthcare is bad for the people of Maryland, but should be implemented on the first day of his job! Oh yeah, Harris plans to fight for the repeal of “Obamacare,” the healthcare legislation that was passed by Congress in March. He seems to want to add to the roster of 50 million Americans who currently do not have any form of healthcare.
Dr. Harris just told the people of Maryland, “I got mine. I hope you got yours. Peace!!” This is some sad mess…
