OMG!! Pat Robertson Trashes the Haitian People?!

| On 14, Jan 2010

Patty "poops" in the face of the Haitian people... :-(

Ok .. I wasn’t going to take it there, but he asked for it.   Rev. Pat Robertson has got to be smoking a powerful rock for his latest comments about the Haitian earthquake victims!!  The news by itself has been hard to watch lately about the tragedy.  Now Mr. Holier than Thou has all but guaranteed a safe spot in the WTF Hall-of-Fame.

Robertson said on Wednesday’s edition of the Christian Broadcasting Network’s “700 Club”:

“You know … something happened a long time ago in Haiti. … They got together and swore a pact to the Devil.  They said, ‘We will serve you if you get us free from the French.’ True story.”

“And so, the Devil said, ‘OK, it’s a deal.’ And they kicked the French out,” Robertson added. “You know, the Haitians revolted and got themselves free.  But ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after another.”

Yep, that’s it!  The Haitian people worked with Satan to get their freedom in the early 1800’s and now 10 generations later they are paying the price.   And because they were liberated from an oppressive colonizer, they were then indebted to the devil?   Huh?????  Wonder what his take is on Blacks that were freed from slavery in America or Jewish people from concentration camps?! ::Sigh:: It all makes sense now.  Since America was freed from Great Britain, our punishment is the a$$hole that is Pat Robertson!!

The Haitians need help, not judgment.  It is unspeakable to consider otherwise in the face of this kind of tragedy.  They live on an earthquake fault line, just like the people of California, Indonesia, Alaska, and several other places on the globe.  They didn’t cause Tuesday’s tragedy.   And even if they did, Big Patty doesn’t have a heaven or hell to put them in!

Read the Washington Post’s article about the comments. Also, check out the Christian Broadcasting Network’s defense of Rev. Robertson’s statements.
