PowerPoint Has the Republicans In Some Trouble!

| On 05, Mar 2010

This is what the RNC think of some of the Democrats. And that "Socialist" picture looks like Sambo to me. Unacceptable...

Like my Grandma always said, don’t put EVERYTHING in writing!

Some members of the Republican National Committee (RNC) have not learned that lesson at all.  One of their brightest members left behind the entire fundraising PowerPoint from their Feb. 18 meeting in a Florida hotel. A Democrat found it and handed it over to Politico, which is just one of the largest and most popular political websites.  Of course, Politico ran with the story and posted the entire PowerPoint.

The scoop is not so much in the fundraising playbook, as it is in particular caricatures of President Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Obama is in whiteface makeup with bright red lips and the word “Socialism” under his photo.  Reid and Pelosi are Scooby Doo and Cruella DeVille, respectively.  They also pose together, a la the famous “American Gothic” painting, of the farmers with the pitchfork.

There’s also some other interesting information in the presentation.  The RNC gives tips on how to get money and play to the wants of their donors.  In short, they can market to the rich by giving them access to powerful conservatives.  The poorer members will respond better to fear (of the president, Democrats, or whomever).  The photo above illustrates that marketing plan in motion.  It’s really a tacky way to divide their base, but it seems to have responded to it before.  So, why change??

I could get into the whole race issue of the Sambo-like photo, but I think that horse has been beaten to a pulp when it comes to some (not all) of the Republicans. We know the extreme Right crazies thinks he’s a Muslim socialist who was born in Kenya and is the anti-Christ.  There’s no use arguing with people that will do anything to literally make a dollar off of willing Republican donors.  They can pimp their donors, but not me, about the president.  I’ll pass…

Great job, RNC!!  You knocked this one out of the park.
