Republican Speaks Truth About HCR Repeal
Matt | On 31, Mar 2010
Let me paraphrase Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) .. That healthcare repeal nonsense ain’t gonna happen! Again .. WILL. NOT. HAPPEN.
I appreciate Bobby for finally showing that someone on the GOP side of the aisle is having a reality check moment. When discussing the topic at Vanderbilt University on Wednesday, he said, “The fact is that’s not going to happen, OK?” In simple terms, the Republicans would need to take over the House, Senate, and the White House really soon to make it happen. Nearly impossible.
If you remember, as soon as the healthcare law passed on March 21, the GOP was screaming about repealing it because “Americans don’t want this bill.” (None of the Americans around ME said that, but who am I?) It’s pretty tough to repeal legislation when you’re not in power. On top of that, time is not on the GOP’s side. The sliding scale of benefits from the bill are set to be rolled out between now and 2018. The more healthcare perks and changes that people see, the less they will want to change them.
Regardless of everything I just typed, you will still hear some GOP members of Congress running on repealing HCR. They all need to quickly have a seat and bring a real IDEA to the table.
