Tea Party Protester Threatens Sen. Patty Murray

| On 08, Apr 2010

Poor Patty Murray .. All she did was vote in favor of healthcare! Death threats are never necessary...

The healthcare debate, for some strange reason, still rages on in this country.  I hope you didn’t think the passage of the bill was going to stop anything.

The latest victim of death threats is Senator Patty Murray (D-WA). She received some disturbing phone messages between March 21 – April 4 from Charles Alan Wilson, 63, of Washington.  Wilson left a boatload of profanity on her voicemail that would make a sailor give a strong side-eye.  In one message, he says, “I hope you f*cking die!” and another says, “I want to f*cking kill you..” Sounds pretty clear to me.  Wilson also told Murray that he was among a group of Tea Party protesters “waiting for” her to come outside and explain her support of the bill.

The FBI had been investigating the threats when they discovered his attendance at the ‘Remember Us, We The People’ rally in Yakima. The group is affiliated with the larger Tea Party movement.  However, a spokesperson for the group confirmed that Wilson was never on their membership roster.  So, it’s really bad news for the group since people will  infer that they all had something to do with the threats against Murray.  Not true.  Wilson even admitted in another voicemail that he doesn’t identify with “Tea Party baggers,” Democrats, or Republicans.

To me, Wilson was going to use every avenue he could to scare the sh*t out of her.  I’m still not understanding WHY in the world someone would go to these lengths to make threats against a lawmaker.  Is it really that serious?  This guy goes on and on about socialism, healthcare, and such, but I’m not seeing the validity of his complaint.  They didn’t take away his health care at all.  In fact, now I think he’s a really GREAT candidate for extra MENTAL HEALTH treatment.  At age 63, he doesn’t have anything better to do with his time?

In the end, authorities have apprehended Wilson and he is charged with threatening a federal official.
