Two Democratic Senate seats up for grabs in 2010

I was listening to The Ed Schultz Show in my car on Wednesday. Lo and behold, Democratic Senate seats in North Dakota (Byron Dorgan) and Connecticut (Chris Dodd) will be up for grabs in the November elections! Senator Dorgan was on Ed’s radio show explaining how he came to his decision and some of his next steps after elected office. He has served in Congress since probably right after the Civil War. lol..
Eh, this is a mixed bag of news that the Democrats don’t need (read: WANT) to hear right now. The problem is that after winning almost landslide victories in the 2006 and 2008 elections, the Dems have NOT been able to convincingly hold on to their margins. Major issues like healthcare, war, and our out-of-control deficits have not been tackled as promised in many campaigns.
1. Do we have a public option in healthcare? NO!!!!
2. Are we ever gonna end these freakin’ wars? NOT HARDLY!!!!
3. Is our nation going to have to slip on its proverbial stacked heel and slide down the stripper pole to pay back China the BILLIONS we owe them? HELL YEAH!!!!
The message that the Republicans are trying to paint is that the people are revolting at President Obama’s policies, by way of the upcoming midterm elections. I don’t agree with that thinking. I do believe that some legislators are being held accountable by THEIR constituents, which is how it’s supposed to work. In some cases, even unfairly, they are being judged by problems that they didn’t create or can’t control. However it goes, know that the 2010 elections are going to be analyzed every way and sideways.
Read it for yourself in The Washington Post.
