Upcoming House Speaker John Boehner to Fly Commercial

Soon-to-be House Speaker John Boehner is taking the “cutting Washington spending” message to heart as he preps for his new role.
Rep. Boehner, an Ohio Republican, has announced that he will continue to fly commercially even after he assumes his role as Speaker of the House. It’s an effort to continue to save the government money.
Current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her predecessor Rep. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) both flew on Air Force jets because of post-9/11 security concerns. The Speaker of the House is the third in line to the White House should anything happen to the president or vice president. Honestly, I think Pelosi did not want to fly nearly five hours cooped up on a commercial plane eating peanuts and listening to screaming children. I feel her, though…
So, if you’re ever flying from Washington D.C. to the Cincinnati area (near Boehner’s home district), you might be able to give the upcoming Speaker a piece of your mind on your flight. Don’t let the glow from his tan scare you. Remember that he works for the people!
