Anderson Cooper Got His Ass Beat by Egyptian Protesters

See, this is EXACTLY why I do not advocate for news crews going into dangerous situations.
Big news stations are the first ones to run into danger trying to out-scoop each other. In the meantime, they are taking the same blows that the citizens are resulting in what happened this morning.
I’m talking about CNN’s Anderson Cooper. He just announced via Twitter some of the pro-government protesters in Egypt whipped his ass as he was positioning himself and the camera crew for a stand-up shot. The producer and camera man also took a few licks.
They were trying to get in between pro-government and anti-Mubarak protesters who obviously don’t like one another. The pro-government “thugs” (as he called them) began to rough lil’ Andy up and his camera crew.
Here’s Cooper’s exact tweet:
“Got roughed up by thugs in pro-mubarak crowd..punched and kicked repeatedly. Had to escape. Safe now” (10:41 a.m. ET, Feb. 2)
Anderson says that in a situation like that you just have to take your licks and walk away. Doing anything else will ignite tensions. I can agree with that, but you know it’s hard to shake that reflex that’s ready to go upside somebody’s head when they attack you.
For now, he says he is in a safe place. I would HOPE that he’s learned a lesson in all of this. Get the live shot from FAR AWAY! ::smh::
