Chelsea Clinton Features Disadvantaged Youth In Her NBC Debut
Matt | On 13, Dec 2011
On Monday night, former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton made her official television debut as a contributor on NBC’s “Rock Center with Brian Williams.”
Clinton’s first piece was about an organization called TOPPS (or Targeting Our People’s Priorities with Service) out of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Annette Dove, executive director of the organization, works with disadvantaged youth to keep them on the right path. She provides food, tutoring, cooking lessons, and some overall love they may be missing in their lives. It was a touching piece and Dove’s organization could use even more help to sustain itself.
After the segment aired, some news outlets went as far as to knock Clinton for seeming nervous on-air or being a shill for the left wing. That’s B-S.
They will praise Kim Kardashian for looking relaxed on camera in a sex tape or a staged wedding, but they throw rocks at Chelsea?! People need to sit all the way. Hell, just lay on the floor!
I’m proud of Chelsea’s first effort for NBC. She clearly has a passion for telling a specific kind of story. The fact that she is donating her entire NBC salary to charity should back that fact up.
I’m looking forward to more of her stories. It beats tacky reality TV.
