CNN Anchor Don Lemon Comes Out as Gay

….. and the sky is blue and water is quite moist, if you ask me. I cannot say that I haven’t heard more than one not-so-veiled reference to Don Lemon possibly liking men.
Still, the CNN anchor has found the courage to write a book about his life titled, “Transparent.” In it, he offers inspiration and encouragement about being a black man on a mainstream cable news station and what it’s like to work in news in general. He also discusses his sexual abuse as a youth and a new(er) revelation that he, in fact, is gay.
It is around the latter topic that Lemon still has some reservations about what people will think about him. It’s through this fear that he felt he needed to write the book. He wondered what newsman could be expected to be transparent about a range of global topics, but tight-lipped about their own truth?
Lemon says about being gay and his fears…
“It’s quite different for an African-American male. It’s about the worst thing you can be in black culture. You’re taught you have to be a man; you have to be masculine. In the black community they think you can pray the gay away,” Lemon told the New York Times.
“You’re afraid that black women will say the same things they do about how black men should be dating black women. I guess this makes me a double minority now,” he added.
Now, he is NOT lying about that last statement! lol…
Whatever the outcome is, and I’m sure it will be mostly positive, Lemon will get some prime media attention for his new release. He is already scheduled to appear on CNN Newsroom later today and The Joy Behar Show this week.
