Conservative Radio Host Offers Newt Gingrich $1 Million to Bow Out

They say “money talks.” This is true, but it’s probably not loud enough for Newt Gingrich.
Conservative radio host Michael Savage recently got the attention of a few people when he offered Gingrich $1 million to drop out of the presidential race. He posted the offer on his site on December 12. Gingrich has until December 15 to accept the offer or it will be forfeited.
Common sense is telling me that Newt is laughing at the offer right about now.
I know $1 million sounds like a lot of money, but in Newt’s world it really isn’t. He banked approximately $1.6 million from “an historian” gig with Freddie Mac over the course of a few years. Does this radio host really think that Newt is giving up his wet dream to be president for only $1 million? He could easily earn that somewhere else.
Savage isn’t just blindly throwing money out for Newt to quit. He is very explicit about why he thinks Gingrich should drop out. Savage cites Gingrich’s disses of Medicare, his Fannie/Freddie lobbying, and even how he walked out on his past wives when they had long-term illnesses as some of the reasons he shouldn’t seek the presidency.
Says Savage (in all caps, by the way):
“NEWT GINRICH [sic] IS UNELECTABLE. MITT ROMNEY IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE WITH A CHANCE OF DEFEATING BARACK OBAMA, AND THERE IS NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN THAT FOR FUTURE HEALTH, SAFETY, AND SECURITY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”
Oh yeah, he also called Gingrich a “A FAT, OLD, WHITE MAN” in his missive. ::sigh::
Newt is not dropping out of the race. He especially won’t be bribed out of it … well .. at least not publicly.
