“Corporations Are People,” Says Mitt Romney

| On 12, Aug 2011

This is a prime example of the Citizens United vs. FCC case gone all wrong. Corporate money is speaking loud and damn clear here.

Out on the campaign stump, GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney made a case for why he thinks corporations should not receive tax increases to shore up Medicare and Social Security.

“Corporations are people, my friend…,” said Romney to a clearly upset audience at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines.

Umm … Earth to Mitt Romney!! Corporations are NOT people and that type of comment shows the core thinking of rich Republicans. People like him look at corporations as their friends. Who really wants to stick their “friends” with higher taxes? No one.

The problem is that lots of major companies don’t pay nearly their fair share in taxes. But now that corporations have big bank accounts and free reign to buy elections, they can influence candidates like Mitt to not think about raising taxes.
