Desiree Rogers Lands On Rahm Emanuel’s Inaugural Committee

Since leaving the White House last year, former Social Secretary Desiree Rogers has made some serious power moves in her time back in Chicago.
She landed a consulting gig with the famed Johnson Publishing Company, home to Jet and Ebony magazines. Soon after that, she transitioned into a full-time role as CEO of the company. One of her first covers of Ebony under her helm featured President Barack Obama.
Now, another White House alum is back in the Windy City and now he’s mayor. On May 16, Rahm Emanuel will be inaugurated as the city’s next leader. In a hat tip to his White House colleague, Rogers has been named one of seven people to run his 2011 Inaugural Committee. She will serve as co-chair while, of course, retaining her day-to-day duties at Johnson Publishing Co.
This goes to show that anything is possible for the well-connected. Rogers left the White House, of all places, and landed a top spot at a major print media outlet. Her colleague becomes mayor and now she’s heading up his inauguration. Work Desiree!
By the way, the inauguration will be privately-financed. You already know it’s gonna “look like money” in there. Emanuel raised $13 million for his campaign in just four months. I’ll pop a bottle to that! lol…
