Donald Trump Offers Crazy Idea of Moderating a GOP Debate
Matt | On 05, Dec 2011
Either it’s me or we seem to be running out of moderator options for the 6,549,352 GOP debates going on this campaign season.
Absent of a real “journalist,” real estate tycoon and reality show star Donald Trump has stepped forward and agreed to moderate a debate. I think the news is more in him moderating than the actual content of the event.
The debate will be held on December 27 on the Ion Television network. Since it’s pretty much guaranteed that no one has either heard of the network or will be watching, Trump has his work cut out for him. He sent out invitations to each of the candidates. So far, frontrunner Newt Gingrich has accepted, which means that most of the others will accept. Ron Paul and Jon Huntsman declined.
I’m really interested to see the style of moderation that Trump will present. I can imagine that it will have some form of the Trump dramatics that made him famous in The Apprentice franchise. The idea of him as a moderator is laughable anyway, but so are some of the candidates and their drama.
As always, clips should be available from the event. We’ll be sure to let you know how The Donald performs. (See, it isn’t even about the candidates or the issues! ::sigh::)
Sidenote: Who holds a debate two days after Christmas? That kinda sucks the good cheer out of the holiday spirit.
