Haley Barbour Declines Presidential Run

There is a God up on High and he specializes in answering prayers!
Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, a Republican, confirmed today that he will NOT seek to run for president next year. The governor says that it ultimately came down to a gut feeling as his reason for stepping away from a possible run. The field of GOP hopefuls is still crowded, so they still have even more trimming of fat to do.
Barbour wasn’t gaining a lot of momentum in the GOP field, even though he had not formally announced a bid for the presidency. Polling data, according to CNN, confirmed that.
I believe that the way he portrayed himself in the national media didn’t allow him to connect with voters either. He runs a state in the deep South and still seems (politically) disconnected from much larger and diverse groups of people.
Though his state boasts one of the largest percentages of African-Americans to the overall state population, he was out of touch with them. Barbour, at one time, implied that blacks in the 1960’s didn’t have it that rough in Mississippi, which is a DAMN LIE! He also turned a blind eye to BP in the early days of last year’s oil spill. Most recently, he offered indirect support of a state license plate that would honor the founder of the Ku Klux Klan.
Yeah, that’s where his mind is right about now…
