Herman Cain Shocks With Florida Straw Poll Win

Herman Cain and his deep South Georgia drawl came out on top in the latest Florida straw poll.
Cain, who is probably the most business-savvy of all the Republican candidates, posted a win in The Sunshine State this past weekend. The poll doesn’t matter, as it was essentially a mock scenario. Cain still walked away with 37 percent of the 2,657 votes cast. Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Mitt Romney got 15 and 14 percent of the vote, respectively.
The results are telling for a few reasons. First, Florida is a swing state, meaning that voters are given much more attention than in other markets. It also shows that Cain broke through the clutter from Thursday night’s FOX News-Google Republican Presidential Debate and had an impact on potential voters in Florida. That says a lot considering that the media have pitted Rick Perry and Mitt Romney as the clear frontrunners who are against each other.
I have to give Herman Cain his credit for the accomplishment. If he wants to elevate his status among the eight major GOP candidates, he must capitalize on this win in a major way.
