House Chokes Funding to Planned Parenthood

The conservative majority in the U.S. House of Representatives has tackled one of their favorite wedge issues with a vote today. The House decided 240-185 to block all federal funding for Planned Parenthood.
The major reason for the vote was to make sure that no federal funds go to provide abortions to women. That’s always a hot button issue for Republicans, the leaders and keepers of all things moral and right … when they aren’t propositioning undercover officers for sex in bathrooms, buying hookers, or cheating on their wives on CraigsList. So, since they won’t clean their own houses, they will throw stones at yours!
But, I digress…
As debate heated up around the issue, several members of Congress weighed in on the legislation. The video above is from Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) on the House floor on Thursday. She recounts a pretty chilling experience she had when she needed Planned Parenthood’s services for natural pregnancy complications she faced. She lost her baby at 17 weeks in the pregnancy due to the issues.
Rep. Speier made a very good point about how Republicans have a vendetta against Planned Parenthood because they don’t like abortion. But, she also reminded them that abortions are NOT the only service they provide.
Despite her candid admission, the House still voted in favor of blocking the group’s federal funding today.
So much for putting a face with the necessity and importance of your cause. Republicans have another feather in their caps trying to morally legislate our lives.
