Maxine Waters Rips Pres. Obama’s Record in the Black Community

Somebody pissed off Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) and she is speaking her mind. Fortunately, some vocal black voters have beaten her to the punch.
In Detroit this week, Rep. Waters interacted with voters who are steamed about the president’s lack of focus on the extraordinarily high unemployment in the black community. She took the concerns of voters in person who live over 2,200 miles away from her Los Angeles area district.
Watch the exchange above between Waters and the voters. Pay special attention to the voter feedback that, in my opinion, shows just what some people of color think of the president.
The discussion about the lack of jobs in the black community is not by accident.
Waters and members of the Congressional Black Caucus have stopped in various cities for the “For the People Jobs Initiative” this month. The event makes the rounds to five cities – Cleveland, Detroit, Atlanta, Miami, and Los Angeles. Four of those cities have additional town hall meetings.
People want jobs .. yes! But they also want a chance to tell elected officials exactly what they think about the inaction in Washington.
I agree with the audience members. It is time to step up and “unleash” (as Waters said) on the president. Closed mouths don’t get fed. At the same time, however, it is beyond time for the black community to step up and take more responsibility for itself and its well-being.
