Oprah Winfrey Gets A Chicago Street Named For Her

The Queen of Daytime Talk, Oprah Winfrey, can add another feather to her cap this week. The media mogul can now say she has her own Chicago street.
Harpo Studios, just west of downtown Chicago, will have the street in front of its main entrance renamed ‘Oprah Winfrey Way’. After 25 successful years as a nationally syndicated talk show host, Winfrey received the honor from Mayor Daley, who is leaving his post after 22 years.
Winfrey said getting the street named after her was a “full-circle moment.” She reflected on her poor, country roots from Kosciusko, Mississippi to becoming one of the world’s richest and most powerful women.
Though she was excited about the street-naming, Winfrey will be saying goodbye to Chicago soon. She is heading to Los Angeles to run The Oprah Winfrey Network that she launched in January 2011.
Why didn’t the city of Chicago do this for her about 10 years ago??? I mean, she’s almost out the door now and has been THEE biggest name in Chicago forever. Just my thoughts…
Well, at least for the next few weeks or months, Oprah can have her driver take her up and down her own street. That’s gotta be a good feeling.
