In the wake of Saturday’s mass shooting in Tucson, a memorial service will be held at the University of Arizona on Thursday evening.

President and Mrs. Obama,  along with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, will fly to Tucson for the 6:00 p.m. Mountain time service. The event is titled, “Together We Thrive: Tucson and America” and it’s free and open to the public.

Saturday’s tragedy killed six people and wounded 14. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) was severely wounded with a bullet to the skull as she hosted her “Congress On Your Corner” event to meet with her constituents.

Thursday’s event will include a Native blessing, moment of silence, poetry reading, and the presentation of a chain of message from the public.
