Pres Obama and John Boehner Link Up for Golf Game

There’s nothing like a good game of golf to break the ice with someone who you don’t agree on a damn thing with.
This was the scenario that President Obama faced this past Saturday when he teamed with House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) for a game of golf against Vice President Joe Biden and Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R). The president and Speaker Boehner edged out the Biden/Kasich team. The foursome played at Joint Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.
The president and House speaker’s winnings totaled a whopping $2.00 each.
Now of course, none of these men were going to seriously bet on the game in public knowing the entire free world was watching them. But still, $2.00?? Can that even buy a Gatorade in the clubhouse after the 18th hole?
President Obama better be glad he had Speaker Boehner on his team. Word has it that the Republican leader lights up the golf course with the best of them. He is legendary for his great golf game.
The golf game wasn’t really designed for them to heal their differences, but just to show that they could come together outside of politics. It provided some decent photo ops.
Substantively, they are still polar opposites on so many issues. Knowing this, they simply had a drink after the game, watched some of the U.S. Open on TV, and visited with service members.
