Rep. David Wu to Resign from Congress

Oregon Congressman David Wu, a Democrat, has had a whole helluva lot going on in the sidelines of his life while he’s tried to work in Washington, D.C.

The seven-term representative said today that he will resign from the House of Representatives as soon as the latest debt ceiling fight is over.

According to The Oregonian, Wu is accused of having an aggressive sexual encounter in southern California with the daughter of one of his friends from high school. The young woman was supposedly 18 at the time, however, she left a voicemail message at his office in the spring suggesting that the encounter was not consensual. She never pressed charges and has not been identified.

Though the alleged act is not illegal, Wu is facing a potential ethics investigation from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. He is also under more pressure from constituents in the Portland area who want him gone. They have already seen massive turnover with Wu’s staff back in February due to some erratic behavior during last year’s campaign.

Oh yeah .. Wu and his wife are in the process of getting a divorce. Go figure. I’m sure she may have even more scoop about what’s really going on behind closed doors.

What is with Congressmen lately going after young women? None of these guys are young enough to even pull these girls on their own. So they use their careers to do it? I’m lost.
