Rep. Allen West (R-Florida) is getting a lot more of the spotlight in recent days.
As we reported last week, Sarah Palin has her eye on West for the vice presidential slot of (presumably) Mitt Romney.
Well, former presidential candidate Herman Cain also is fond of Rep. West. In a radio interview on the syndicated “Steve Gill Show,” Cain said on Monday that he would encourage West to fill the vice presidential slot.
Here is a bit of why Cain thinks West is right for the job:
“Col. Allen West is a dedicated patriot. He served in the military and he’s willing to serve his country some more,” Cain said.
He went on to add that, if asked, he would counsel West saying, “You [served] your country well and now you have a higher calling.”
You can’t knock a man that has military experience who wants to serve his country. But, I like to know how candidates who I wouldn’t vote for will reach across the aisle to speak to me. So far, I haven’t seen that from West.
His outburst on CNN last Friday about gay marriage let me know that he’s not comfortable in anything other than his narrow, conservative lane. And that’s just concerning ONE topic…
