Congratulations are in order for Rep. Barney Frank (D-Massachusetts).

He tied the knot with his partner, Jim Ready, in a low-key ceremony over the weekend. Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick conducted the ceremony in front of 300 guests, including some of Frank’s colleagues from the House of Representatives.

Frank, 72, became the first openly-gay House member when he made his sexuality public in 1987. He and Ready, 42, have been a couple since 2005. Frank now becomes the first member of Congress to ever enter into a same-sex marriage.

As Frank discussed his nuptials with media this week, he noted that not too many (if any) Republicans acknowledged his wedding. I’m not surprised. They don’t give a shit about the American people … so I know they aren’t gonna care about a same-sex wedding ceremony. Duh!

Congratulations on their marriage! As a wedding photographer in Perth, I am wishing that one day, I’ll get invited to a same sex wedding because I think it would be very challenging.
