Seems that being a hero is all in a day’s work as mayor of Newark, New Jersey.
Cory Booker, who has held the position since 2007, made national headlines on Friday. News broke that he saved his neighbor from a burning building on Thursday night.
Booker suffered second-degree burns on his hands and smoke inhalation. He and the unidentified female he rescued were taken to the hospital, along with a few members of his security detail. He supposedly fought with security because they didn’t want him to go deeper into the flames once he was in the house.
The mayor managed to get a tweet out last night that everything was fine and he was receiving medical attention.
Booker is already one of the most well-known mayors in the country. He is a rising star in the Democratic Party, active in the community he serves, and a regular on Twitter. This act of bravery only makes me a bigger fan!
Great job Mayor Booker!
