Obama Halts Colorado Ads All Week Due to Aurora Tragedy

Many would say that there few positives that have emerged in the wake of the horrible Aurora, Colorado theater shooting last Friday.
One good thing, at least for Coloradans listening to media, is that they won’t have to hear any ads from President Obama for the next week. He pulled all of his campaign spots until the end of this week out of respect for the still-fresh tragedy.
This was a smart move on his part. As much as some of us love politics and the back-and-forth, none of it matters when compared to a crime of this magnitude.
Some in the media are wondering how the shooting will impact the nasty tone of the presidential campaign. We need to be honest with ourselves. Ever since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, political campaigns have done nothing but get more angry and bitter. I hate to say that I doubt Aurora will change the tone in the 2012 race.
