Obama Wants Your Wedding and Birthday Money For His Campaign

This is one of the strangest things I’ve seen in quite a while.
The Obama campaign has launched an event registry creation tool on its site that will help them funnel more donations from supporters.
Here’s how it works. If you have a birthday, wedding, or other important day approaching, go to the Obama For America site and create a registry account. From there, people can donate to the campaign using your invitation in lieu of regular gifts. That works …. umm, in theory.
Honestly, it comes off as a bit pretentious to think that people should donate to a political campaign over someone’s wedding. One is a once-every-four-years event and the other is a lifetime milestone. It’s all up to the gift recipient to create the account. Still, the “ask” is a lot….
My birthday is approaching in three weeks, for those that care. But, I assure you that not a single gift, penny, or gift card I receive will be re-routed to the campaign. I support the president to some extent, but interfering with my celebration is a bit too much. LOL!
I wonder if Obama is going to send all his birthday gift money to the campaign on August 4th? Let’s lead by example, sir!

What do you think about the Obama’s campaign’s gift registry idea? Creative or canned?
