We remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who was gunned down 44 years ago today .. April 4, 1968.
Dr. King was standing on the balcony of his room at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee when a nearby sniper, James Earl Ray, abruptly took his life. The civil rights leader was only 39 years old.
We all owe a debt of gratitude to Dr. King and the other famous and not-so-famous heroes of his generation. Despite the problems of today, many of our situations pale in comparison to theirs.
I always wonder what would have become of Dr. King’s life if he were alive today at 83 years old. What would he think of our society, government, and world issues? Hmmm…
