Seems like Mitt Romney finally has some company on the campaign trail with him.
On Saturday morning .. much to early for my liking .. Romney finally announced that he chose Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin) as his vice presidential running mate.
The announcement was doomed from the beginning.
First, someone in the Romney campaign leaked to the press late Friday night that Ryan was the go-to guy. The horse-race started for every major media outlet to say that they had “sources” telling them that Ryan was the choice. Social media, particularly Twitter, helped spread the word even faster.
As far as the news agencies trying to be “first” on the scoop, it looked pretty stupid to me. It meant nothing without Ryan or Romney standing at the podium to confirm it.
Once the announcement was official on Saturday, everyone berated Mitt’s VP choice. Paul Ryan is one of the most polarizing Republicans in the House of Representatives today. He is the chairman of the House Budget Committee. During his tenure, he has proposed turning Medicare into a voucher program and giving millionaires even more tax breaks while burdening the middle class.
We could go on and on about how horrid Paul Ryan was as a VP pick. This will hopefully increase President Obama’s chances of winning the White House again in November.
In the meantime, watch the hoopla on Saturday in Virginia as Mittens announced that Eddie Munster (check out his widow’s peak) was his running mate.
