Romney Thinks Emergency Rooms Are The Answer For Uninsured (VIDEO)

Mitt Romney made an appearance on CBS’s “60 Minutes” program in their latest series analyzing both he and President Obama ahead of the national election.
In short, Romney is so clueless. I don’t know whether to laugh or feel bad for the man. That’s how far off the mark he is from reality.
In his interview, Romney responds to a question about how to provide healthcare to the 50 million uninsured people in the U.S. When the interviewer says that emergency room care is available but expensive, Romney still insists that the option is there for people along with ambulances to get them there.
Has he reviewed an invoice from an emergency room visit lately? It ain’t pretty….
Not only is the cost of uninsured care astronomical, but even the ambulance to get people to the hospital can murder a piggy bank. Depending on the level of care provided by EMTs at home, an ambulance run to the ER can cost people $500 or more per trip.
Where does Romney think people will get this money from? THEIR PARENTS?!
I assume that Romney has had (at minimum) a decent level of insurance for most of his life. So, out-of-pocket medical bills don’t darken his mailbox on the regular. I get that. But, to imply that people should continue to rely on emergency room care as a solution highlights his disconnection from reality.
Simple research and time spent with real people could have changed this statement.
