Santorum Finally Endorses Romney For President

Nearly a month after leaving the GOP presidential race, Rick Santorum has finally accepted the reality and given into the force that is Mitt Romney.

Santorum endorsed Romney via an email to his supporters late Monday, effectively ending the waiting game to see what he would do post-campaign.

In my mind, this doesn’t mean that Santorum shares all (or even a majority) of Romney’s positions. They both simply have an animalistic urge to beat President Obama in the fall. It means that Santorum has realized that nobody else is getting to the grand stage with Obama.

Santorum’s endorsement follows a long list of high-profile GOPers who have backed the former Massachusetts governor, including former GOP opponents Michele BachmannNewt Gingrich, and Herman Cain.

The only strange thing about the Santorum endorsement is that it follows what was becoming a bitterly personal set of attacks between he and Romney. Just a few weeks ago they were ready to rip each others heads off. Now they are political BFFs? Umm no.
