Medical issues are abruptly ending the term of one of President Obama’s cabinet members.

Commerce Secretary John Bryson is stepping aside in his role as of Thursday due to a seizure he suffered on June 9. He said that he doesn’t want his health issues to interfere with his job performance. Bryson met with President Obama at the White House where his resignation was accepted on Thursday.

Bryson was involved in two simultaneous auto accidents earlier this month in California that were linked to a seizure. He caused minor injuries to passengers in one vehicle and was found unconscious after hitting the second vehicle. Though he was cited, it’s unclear whether or not charges will be filed.

Rebecca Blank, who was originally Bryson’s deputy, will continue to serve as acting Commerce Secretary.

Hopefully, due to the Bryson’s health concerns, this may be one staff adjustment in the Obama Administration that isn’t politicized too much. Or maybe I’m asking for a lot? *sigh*
