Firebrand New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is literally no pushover and here’s why….
Dr. Connie Mariano appeared on CNN this week and discussed the governor’s portly size and the negative effects it could have on his health. Christie was not present for the interview.
In short, Dr. Mariano said that Christie’s size will eventually have negative effects on his health. She said a concern of her is about Christie “dying in office.”
Christie got wind of Mariano’s comments from one of his children who saw it on TV. That’s when he got upset.
“[She] should shut up,” the governor said about Mariano. He basically said she didn’t know what she was talking about. He also called her a “hack.”
Mariano reminded the press that not only is she a board certified physician in internal medicine, she has worked in the Navy and is a former White House physician. Despite Christie’s pushback, Mariano laid her stellar resume down for him to reconsider.
On the surface, Mariano gave a fair assessment about the governor because he is obviously obese. She was not making the comments in a negative way, but rather as a legitimate statement.
However, why is Christie’s weight an issue for someone who is not his physician? Isn’t he afforded the same rights to privacy as the rest of us? If I were Christie, I’d be slightly upset too.
