Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts) has a star that just will not stop shining these days!
Already a rock star in the grassroots liberal community, Sen. Warren has been making waves in the Senate since her election in 2012. She appeared on The Rachel Maddow Show on Wednesday evening to discuss a new shift with Democratic lawmakers in Congress, specifically around the issue of Social Security cuts.
Democrats, like Warren, are not for the feared cuts that Republicans want to enact. In fact, they will work not only to keep the program as is, but to increase the amount that some seniors receive every month.
As Warren explained, it is really the right thing to do. We are in the wake of the Great Recession and facing record personal debt levels and uncertainty about the future. Warren says we cannot let our seniors go by the wayside. In many cases they depend on Social Security income to live. Without it, there are no other revenue sources available for them to meet their basic needs.
This clip is also important from an another standpoint. Chatter has been building that Warren could (or should) consider a run for president in 2016. So, people pay attention when she sits down for interviews like this and passionately makes her case to protect seniors.
I am not sure if Warren would ever run for president. But, Wednesday night she sold me on the possibility of at least being included on a ticket with Hillary Clinton.
Ahh, wishful thinking….
