FLOTUS, Bill Clinton, and Rachel Maddow Lose at the Grammys

The 55th annual Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday evening.
Everyone knows the awards show to be the pinnacle of accolades for the music business. But, what makes the televised program is only a small portion of the larger field of achievement.
For instance, First Lady Michelle Obama, former President Bill Clinton, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres all received Grammy nominations in the Best Spoken Word Album category.
Then the upset of the year happened. Well, not really … but, you get it.
Janis Ian beat them all and took home the Grammy for “Society’s Child: My Autobiography.” She also doubled as a presenter at the Grammy pre-telecast that was streamed online from the Nokia Theater.
I remember hearing that the First Lady was up for a Grammy, but I kinda forgot about it. Many people overlook the other categories (roughly 70) that don’t make the main telecast. Something tells me she may be nominated again at some point. I don’t rule anything out for her or the other nominees.
So, congratulations are in order for Janice Ian! That’s a hell of a resume builder…
