John Boehner Amazingly Re-Elected As House Speaker

Wonders never cease to amaze in the halls of Congress.
Not even two hours after being sworn in to office, the 113th Congress already made its first huge mistake in re-electing Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) as the Speaker of the House. He passed the 215 vote mark needed to secure the position.
How and why the Republicans elected him to his post confuses the hell out of me. Boehner has done little to advance the work of Congress when he led the 112th Congress. Because his chamber is in Republican hands, he has tried to use this as leverage against the Senate and White House — both controlled by Democrats. The tactic has failed miserably and has done more to gridlock D.C. than get things done. The guy puts party over people every day of the year!
Most recently, in their strongest hour of need, Boehner turned his back on the people of New Jersey and New York in securing Hurricane Sandy relief for them. The Speaker canceled Tuesday’s scheduled vote on the matter, sparking a wave of outrage from pissed-off lawmakers.
This is what our representatives do best. They go to Washington, D.C. and vote for the same gridlock and stale procedures out of FEAR of pissing off someone who could endanger their jobs. Gotta love politics!
