Newly sworn-in Secretary of State John Kerry spent his Monday morning rallying his troops. In this case, the troops were a few hundred of his employees at the Department of State.
Kerry was greeted with a hero’s welcome at the department’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. After entering the building, he offered brief remarks to the crowd that gathered. He talked about the State Department’s mission and what it can accomplish in the world today.
According to Kerry, “I have big heels to fill,” as he assumes the role that Hillary Clinton vacated last week. This is the first time in eight years that a man has served as secretary of state.
