Michelle Obama and Jill Biden Pen Op-Ed About Hiring Vets

Since they stepped into the White House, First Lady Michelle Obama and Second Lady Jill Biden have both been committed to the cause of supporting our nation’s active duty troops, veterans, and military families.
The latest evidence of this push came in the form of an op-Ed piece that appeared in Forbes on Tuesday morning. Titled “Businesses must hire more vets,” it cuts straight to the point about the long-standing problem of unemployment among those who have bravely served the country.
Here’s a bit about why Obama and Biden are pushing for more companies to utilize the military talent pool:
“These men and women are some of the highest-skilled, best-trained, hardest-working people in this country. They are medics and engineers, drivers and welders, computer technicians and machinists. They are eager to work and determined to keep on serving this country. All they need is a chance.
But the challenge of giving them that chance is only becoming more urgent. In the coming years, more than a million servicemembers will be hanging up their uniforms and transitioning to civilian life. That’s on top of the hundreds of thousands of veterans and military spouses already out there looking for work,” the duo said. [SOURCE]
The op-Ed article was timed to a Joining Forces Employment event, also on Tuesday at the White House, that encourages employing veterans.
