I think it’s extremely important to watch this video from Friday to see President Obama commenting first-hand on the recent verdict of the George Zimmerman trial (re: Trayvon Martin).
To me, this is about more than our president discussing the outcome of a polarizing court case. This is the glimpse of a man using the bully pulpit to convey WHY African-Americans (men, in particular) feel the way they do about Trayvon Martin’s killing. It’s not often that we see any aspect of the black male experience discussed in this forum. As a black man myself, I fully support this.
