This is when you know we have hit a new low in political discourse.

Over the weekend at the Missouri State Fair, a rodeo clown made an appearance for 15 minutes sporting a mask to look like President Obama. The crowd was then asked over the loudspeaker if they wanted the clown chased down by a bull. The crowd went wild.

The act didn’t go unnoticed. The state’s Lieutenant Gov. Peter Kinder took to Twitter to denounce the action.

Still, I’m not shocked that we are still seeing this in 2013 in the “heartland” of America.

People in attendance say the president’s name was mentioned over 100 times while the clown was on display. One observer said it felt like a “Klan rally.” How sad.

The Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association apologized to Missourians and the president for their actions on Monday. The clown who appeared has been banned for life from the state fair.
