Sen. Rand Paul’s Son Arrested for Underage Drinking

Conservative firebrand Rand Paul, the junior Republican senator from Kentucky, didn’t probably have the best weekend.
His son, William Hilton Paul, was arrested at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport on January 5 for underage drinking, disorderly conduct at an airport, and being intoxicated and disruptive, according to The Daily Beast. The 19-year-old had been on a flight from Kentucky to North Carolina.
We gotta believe that Sen. Paul is pissed for numerous reasons. Obviously, what parent wants to deal with their child in the news and acting up like this? The senator’s name is being thrown around as a potential presidential contender in 2016. Drunken children don’t fit well into that whole “I want to be your president….” narrative.
So, as Sen. Paul pries his foot from deep in William’s behind, his office issued the following statement:
“Sen. Paul is a national public figure and subject to scrutiny in the public arena, however, as many parents with teenagers would understand, his family should be afforded the privacy and respect they deserve in a situation such as this.” [SOURCE]
I’m all for respecting his privacy. Democrat or Republican, it has to be hard when the mistakes of family members make national news. I just don’t want to hear his overt “family values” mantra in 2016 if his household is still acting a damn fool!
And what a birthday gift for Sen. Paul. He turned 50 on January 7 — the day the news broke on many of the big websites. Eek!
