CBC Chair Marcia Fudge Defends Cummings, Asks For Issa’s Removal (VIDEO)

The smoke is still rising from the U.S. Capitol in Washington after Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) blew up on Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) in the House Oversight & Government Reform committee hearing on Wednesday.
After cameras captured Cummings putting Issa in his rightful place, the major news networks all picked up on the story and ran with it. The optics could not have been better. Cummings was clearly trying to speak and make his point. When Issa did not agree with him, he cut off Cummings’s microphone and left the hearing altogether. The move only enraged Cummings further who openly chastised Issa saying, “We are better than this. The committee is better than this.”
Well, Cummings has some powerful backup in the form of the Congressional Black Caucus and other Democrats. CBC Chairwoman Marcia Fudge (D-OH) took to the House floor with her counterparts on Thursday to condemn Issa’s actions and cite his inappropriate behavior. She also sent a scathing letter [see PDF] to House Speaker John Boehner detailing House rules Issa violated and why he should be removed from his chairman’s post.
I think it is unlikely, though, that Issa will be removed from his post due to the partisan Republican majority in Congress. The GOP is too used to Issa’s petty behavior to let him go now.

Do you think Rep. Darrell Issa should be removed from his chairman’s post because of the altercation with Rep. Elijah Cummings?
