Here’s a Sobering Look at the Senate’s Lack of Diversity (VIDEO)

This video came across my Twitter feed from Pamela Kirkland at Post TV, a property of The Washington Post.
Take a look at the clip and you will learn that only nine of the 1,950 U.S. senators in history have been black. Three of them were appointed to their positions and only one was a woman. Don’t forget that one of them also is our sitting U.S. president, Barack Obama.
I think this is an awful statistic that needed to change quite a while ago. The Senate’s records on women and Latinos are hardly any better — so it’s not just black people getting the shaft.
